My kids thought it was funny but I could only imagine other kids who might have been traumatized.
I went back for a pic for you crazy folks but the red clown nose had already been snatched.

Reminds me of an idea I have that I want to pitch to the OT Shark Tank. The kids of parents who got an Elf On The Shelf when they first came out are hitting their teens so the kids are not into the Elf as much and moving that thing around every day is a pain. I want to sell little skeletons with Elf clothes that you stick in the Elf box. Next year, open the box in front of your kids and see that your Elf died. It will bring closure to the Elf story and you won’t have to move that stupid thing around every morning.

That's not bad, but I opted to not even start it. If you're kids are good, just tell them that santa didn't send an elf to your house because he didn't need to keep an extra eye on them. If your kids are bad, then tell them santa didn't need to send the elf because he already knows their being extra bad. Maybe if they start behaving better, bring in the elf.
