shite like that happens all the time out there, many times intentionally, I used to live a couple of miles from the Jupiter inlet and all kinds of shipwreck items would come in with the tide, I had 4 epirbs hanging on the wall in my garage, after a while I just started throwing them away

ETA: it was about 5-6 minutes from my dock, and only took that long because the last 1/4 mile was no wake
