If aluminum is so bad why is everyone going to it? Your truck is a dinosaur your 5.0 is a dinosaur.

I have the V8 and SO has the 2.7 Eco. First of all, hers will outrun mine like a spotted arse ape. She gets 20 MPG on average. Mine, is 4x4 and it gets about 14 so there is that. We have not towed much with her's as its the sport model and mine has the tow package. The 24' Express that I towed last week dropped my MPG to around 13. I think the added mileage while not towing would benefit getting the Eco. Long drives, we take her's. Just an FYI. Good luck in your search!

Both the V8 and the Eco are gonna lose quite a bit of mpg while towing but the ecoboost tows like a champ.
I pulled a 10K lb camper with mine and it felt smooth but I'd typically only get 9 mpg doing it.
I got rid of my truck because of the timing chain stretch mentioned in this thread, but supposedly that only effected 2015 and earlier versions of the 3.5 eco.
I have a GMC V8 now and I get great mileage but it turns to shite mileage when towing anything at all.

It's not a weakness. You don't wear the tires as much, you don't wear the ball joints and the shocks as much because of the weight. Less weight is never a bad thing when it comes to an automobile.

Less weight is never a bad thing. Extensive use of aluminum isn't necessarily a good thing in of itself.

I've had this truck for 2 years use it like I would use any truck and have no issues with the body whatsoever. Now accidents happen but I'm not throwing 100 lb tool chest in the back of my truck like a retard in the commercial either

It offers plenty of output, but if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time and tow with some regularity, you should get the V8.

I've run against a 2012 3.5 EcoBoost a Tundra with the five seven and most recently a BMW Z Roadster and smoked every one of them

I've driven hemis quite often because I own a repair shop and I fix them a lot and the tundra will outrun the Dodge

no it wont, and im still on the fence regarding the Ecoboost, but that 5.7 is an anchor. The low end torgue on the new 3.5 eco will blow your doors off
