Yeah, we did the 7 day out of New Orleans and it was fine.
We had planned another one that left Canaveral in Florida to do the eastern carib and avoid the Miss River stretch.

That boat is the oldest in the Carnival fleet. It's the absolute bottom of the barrel. The fact that it goes out of Mobile, and is the ONLY cruise out of Mobile, tells you about the state of that market.
As to cruising in particular, I enjoy it. As Scoop's wife will attest, Something happens when you depart land and spend some time detached at sea. You relax.
It's not for everyone though.
