Montana doesn’t actually use salt. Idaho just started salting last winter, but you’re right, it’s not as heavy as what you see back East.
Waxoyl was the classic solution. It was an oil based product developed for tankers, but they opened a consumer division. The shop would liberally coat your undercarriage every winter.
There must be better options now.
