Agreed. Some of y'all are ridiculous with the f250 and truck nut references. 90% percent of the people I deal with on a regular basis in this field are far from that persona. A lot of God fearing family men who are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Y'all cray

I have formulated a solution to all us baws' problems and posted it to the PT board. LINK

All it takes is a 25 cent gasoline tax.

So you think people should pay $1.25/gallon more just to prop up other people's jobs?

No, you completely missed the point of that post. $2.25 gas is not coming around anytime soon unless the global economy picks up. My point is that higher gas down the road would be the result of a better situation for everyone. I'm not saying gas is the cause for the drop in the global economy, but rather a side effect.

And?

Jobs come and go...welcome to a capitalist society.

Plan better.

I get canned tomorrow I have an emergency fund big enough to get me by for six months. I planned for the worst.

Seriously. A 25 cent gasoline tax is all it would take to prop the entire industry up and probably even get us all pay raises. Wouldn't that be better than paying 50 cents or a dollar more at the pump just to get the industry back?

Take a look at the housing thread on this board and you'll see that is an antiquated idea. People want the satisfaction here and now.

A 6 month fund is not going to outlast this downturn. We are looking at 1 to 2 years.

Industry's fluctuate, people lose jobs, people gain them in another sector.

This isn't your favorite liberal utopia where everyone gets a job just because you think they should. Someone has to pay these people. Money doesn't just magically appear in the form of paychecks

If you got laid off, that sucks. (Truck)Nut up and learn a new trade, or go to school, or sell your shite on eBay.

You seem to be doing ok, since you have time to dick around all day on the internet during everyone else's work day.

yes every industry has it's up and downs, it is just rare to see a true POS run to every single thread to celibrate someone elses misfortune.

I mean did you not enjoy watching the 6 roughnecks taking turns on ole' moms or what? I mean what else were they supposed to do? It was crew change and they were not very picky after a few weeks offshore.

I hope your entire family dies a horrible death in a burning car and you have to watch. GFY

Given that many of the people in this thread are from Louisiana, it's pretty disconcerting to see how dumb a lot of them are. This situation is bad news overall.

No question. But that goes for any industry. It doesn't justify the gloating by some on here because millions of people lost their jobs.

Not sure right now. It looks like our clients plan to continue drilling in 2016 so I may be staying here. My current country manager is a fat prick and has tried three times already to move me out but has not been successful. He has something personal against me. He's being demoted and moved out at the end of Q1. I need to survive his fourth and final attempt to oust me.

You realize the majority of people who will be laid off do not get paid more just because the price of gasoline goes up right?

I've tried explaining this already. They don't seem to understand that our salaries don't rise and fall with oil prices. We just get laid off and the money goes away entirely.
