The older you get the more you realize the truth of this. When I worked for the US Government, a supervisor retired and sent out this long email recalling his career and reminiscing on his time with the agency as if he was some legend. I will never forget the opening line “as I cross the Beltway for the last time...” Within two weeks no one could remember that guys name.
