Not sure why so many say to always follow up. I've never placed any importance whatsoever on whether someone follows up with me after I interview them. Sure, you could say it can't hurt, that's fine.

But I can imagine a follow up call or email has ever been the difference between getting a job and not getting it. If I'm making a pros and cons list for applicants, whether they sent a follow up is never an option to put on the lists.

Also, many places you're following up with the recruiter so the actual person doing the hiring will never even know you followed up.

I'm guessing it's pretty irrelevant overall.

Follow up with a professional thank you note via mail. Include a Chick Comic.
