Florida Man suspended from practice of law

Attorney Joseph Reosti, who was caught December 2015 smuggling spice to an inmate in the Okaloosa County Jail, has been suspended for three years by the Florida Bar.

The suspension announcement follows an April 13 court order affirming Reosti’s Oct. 20 plea of no contest to two charges of smuggling contraband into a county detention facility, according to a Florida Bar release issued Tuesday said.

Film footage from the jail showed Reosti, pockets bulging and holding a Christmas card, showing up Dec. 29, 2015, to visit Hice, arrest records state. Reosti was also caught on tape leaving the jail with his hands free and pockets empty.

Thanks to the tip, corrections officers strip-searched Hice immediately after his meeting with Reosti. They found a box of Milk Duds and a box of Mike and Ike candies.

The Milk Duds box contained a spice product known as “Deadman Walking” and a lighter. Spice is a synthetic variant of marijuana that is typically smoked.

Further investigation exposed Alissa Barr, Hice’s girlfriend, as having bought the spice from her father and stuffed it into the candy box, reports said.
