We do not find many issues with Than Merrill and his Fortune Builders at this point, but it is important to note that Fortune Builders uses the same "medicine show" scam strategy used by many of the other gurus like Armando Montelongo. In such a strategy, they hook you with a free, or low cost teaser that is designed to whet your appetite and convince you that you, too, can pocket a bundle of cash if only you will plunk down your own bundle of cash so they can teach you how. But they rarely do much in the teaching arena once they have your money. That is where it falls apart. As we have pointed out before, seminars and boot camps are designed for selling, not teaching.

You can certainly make money flipping homes and you damn well don't need a scam artist to show you how to do so. These scammers work off dreamers....people who have never lifted a hammer or laid a tile in their life. They're scared to make the jump and do very little to earn the knowledge needed to flip. They simply want the easy way to get into it. These types of seminars, regardless of the product being pitched, are always targeted to the same group...always. A snake oil salesman will gladly take their money.

Good point.
If you are a contractor, carpenter, or at least a very competent handy man you can make a nice living flipping houses.
If you are a teacher looking for a summer project you are going to get burned.

It's that time of year again!
"Hi, I'm (scam artist) and I'll be in [awkward pause and poorly inserted city name] area and I want to teach you my secrets to investing and success".
The only secret I want to know is how this guy manages to pull people in every year!
Thank you. I was worried that I was the only one noticing this and hating these commercials.

Exactly.
If you are one of those people that cant/won't change your own brakes or oil on your car, how the hell can you believe you can remodel/rebuild a house.
