Haydel's is OK, but they cost almost 3 times what a Hubig's did

It's stunning to me how that factory wasn't condemned. It was filthy, falling apart, crap kept breaking apart, etc. A lot of the processes were by hand.

They were under-insured.

One could buy the brand and recipe, build a factory, put machines in there, and get it up and running. But you would probably need to at least double, if not more, the selling price to recoup that large investment.

They Haydel's pies aren't bad per se... but they are not a replacement. Very different product.
