This was big at HS graduation this year, one person holding tons of seats, often with a folded program as the indicator

There was one bitch that pulled that shite in one of the best lounge chairs in the atrium area on a Royal Caribbean ship I was recently on. The atrium is always popular and seats fill up fast, so you have to be lucky to get two together.
Even though there were signs up saying not to try to reserve seats in there, her fricking book and towel were in said chair before 7:30 every morning and stayed there all day long.
I only saw the woman once or twice. She just kept her shite there so she could pop in from time to time when she wanted.
Reserving seats has really gotten out of hand.

This restaurant does take reservations for dinner. You'd get seated at an assigned table by the hostess.
For this dinner, it's a monthly "chef's dinner" where they rotate the menu and maybe there's capacity for 20 people total. It's in a big room off to the side. You show up early even, they ask you to wait in the lounge or seated by the hostess table. Then they'd tell you the room is ready, and you go find a seat.
These usurpers are sneaking in and tipping the chairs as noted in the picture where I caught the dude doing it! (blurred out to prevent any doxxing).
I like the thumbtack and special name card ideas. Probably won't fly as I'd get caught with my luck.
Family doesn't want me to make it an issue, so I'm drinking on it for now.
