There was a Rub Tugger parody Facebook account that shared some spicy details on him and he has a record. That man is a mess.

Oh it gets better. Ol' Rub has assaulted a police officer, his mother, and my man Arden Wells at the library.

Rub is like our own (fat) version of Russel Crowe, fightin round 'Toula.

Used to be a nice little town. I hear drugs are a major problem there now. Hasn't had much of an economy for the last 50 years, I think they had a lumber mill. They tried to revive it in the 90s with antiques but the recession pretty much killed that. Elmer's is really the only major business there now.

Paul's Cafe is worth a stop if you are passing through in the morning/lunch hours. He's getting up in age, but my guess is Paul still owns and works in his restaurant; great guy to strike up a conversation with. And yes Hi-Ho is not much to freak out about. If it's still there, Cest Bon was a decent restaurant at one time.

And yes I am proud to say I am from that place. Can't think of a feistier group of people than those in Ponchatoula. Seemed like a constant redneck version of tele novella of "who was fighting and fricking who". It's 100% a hometown that I would be ashamed if I still lived there though; alas, everyone is from somewhere and odds are it isn't perfect.

I'm not. Moved here 10 years ago and I revel in drama that doesn't involve me. Certainly better than the times I lived in BR or NOLA.

My wife commented as we drove in that she would love to live there. NOLA sucks!

I can confirm 1/2 of that. I lived in BR for 12 years. Other than the prospect of having to drive 45 mins to work (because most people who live there do), it's definitely better than Baton Rouge.

arden is the OWEO of tangi.

Bub is toula's trump. He's got some really great ideas, and the town needs them. He just cant keep his mouth shut on FB long enough for it to happen.

the sad part is that I think that if either of the other three get in its just going to be 4 more years of doing nothing.

I agree I would rather live in Ponchatoula than BR or NO any day. It's not a terrible place. I'm just saying it was better 25 or 30 years ago.

Serious question - who is responsible for grave maintenance in the Ponchatoula Cemetery? Can family members do anything on their own or do they have to go through layers of bureaucracy to get something fixed?

Eh, I can see that. Arden is at least entertaining though.

Nah.

I think they're all terrible and I know another candidate personally. Thankfully I live juuuuuuust outside the city limits to be away from this BS and away from the brown water.

I think that people keep dismissing his crazy under that guise. but that dude is batshit crazy and he's going to get someone killed one day. or worse, he's going to get elected and frick the whole thing up.

I know 3/4 personally, and I wouldn't disagree with that statement. I think they are all nice guys, but two of them are too old to be effective and the third is too hot-headed to be trusted. and that Huffine guy, I don't even know WTF that is.
I live outside the city limits too, in the land of the never-ending subdivision developments, but I work downtown every day, so I'm hoping for someone with a vested interest in making the town competitive and technologically sound so that we can grow the right way.

I'm also hoping someone will get that half-dead three-toed gator out of that dirty arse kiddie pool they have him living in.

Yes, you’ll overpay for everything except maybe that rebranded Rouse nastiness.
