And you too can pay in excess of $300 sq ft to live in that area of NOLA.

going to the Walmart

I would do without before stepping foot in a walmarks.
There is not a single household item (or any item) in my house or on my property that was purchased at a walmarks.

I mean, I admire your discipline, but Wal-mart is not really that bad if you know when to go and when not to.

But yes, what is the deal with black people calling it "Walmarks"? I hear it all the time. I guess those who call it "Wal-marts" weren't taking it far enough.

I've been avoiding them for so long (over 6-7 years) that it involves no discipline anymore. At this point, its as easy as driving past a McDonalds to go to a regular restaurant. It's almost as though they don't exist. Its actually quite easy.

I used to go to the one on Tchoup when i lived in the Warehouse Dist if i was in a pinch, because it was so close.. but Costco wasn’t too far, so most of the time i’d go there.. and every once in a while i’d take a ride out to Clearview and do a Target run— but i only go to Metairie if i really have to.

I saw the funniest shite about 5 years ago at the subway just across the street from that wal mart. I parked on the street and as I walked across the street to subway I turned and noticed a man with his pants down shitting in one of the hedges. I could barely order for laughing.

I was coming to say that.

I had to go there, first time, last week.

It's by far the best Walmart in the Greater New Orleans area.

As close as it is to Jackson Ave, Washington Ave, et al...I really thought it'd be a little shady inside. Looked more like I was shopping in Metairie's Whole Foods.

It’s gotten better.

Yep, to me this order online and pick up is the best thing since sliced bread.
I only buy stuff with a forever shelf life from them anyway so it's hard to beat
ordering and picking up at an agreed upon time. My average wait is 10 minutes.
When I'm waiting I'm watching all the people I don't care to interact with go in.
I tip 5$ on usually a 60$ order. They now know my name and see my order so
it helps with my service.
Why tip when I don't have too, on a 60$ order my tax is 3$, so it's like I'm tipping
2$.
I hope y'all don't clutter up my pick up area now.

There are a bunch of NOPD cruisers outside when I’ve passed by. Guessing they put a station nearby or something and that has a lot
To do with it being better

There has always been a station across the parking lot.

It's an infamous Walmart dating back to Katrina. It had gotten very seedy but they cleaned it up, sort of, in recent years.

You can get some good prices at Walmart, many of which beat Amazon even with local and state sales tax applied, which tax rates are ludicrous when you add Louisiana to the Orleans Parish rate. But that's another conversation.

Like any Walmart, you are going to see the lower spectrum of American society, which is depressing and disturbing, and getting worse by the day. On the whole, American society is devolving, with the lower end exploding in numbers. We don't have big wars with drafts anymore which is a big unspoken factor in this phenomenon.
