If you’re just trying to build a nest egg, Deep dive the Internet first. You may not need an advisor. For instance the personal finance subreddit will have a lot you need to know. You’re going to end up paying commission on things you can do with an app for free.

If you have some unique financial circumstance that requires specialized attention (example: You’re young and have limited means, and your widowed mom recently became disabled so you want to help as much as possible without putting your financial future at risk), then seek an advisor.

Congratulations on getting married.

I'd suggest screening and interviewing several before deciding. I use a guy named Chris Clayton who owns Cornerstone Financial in Mandeville.

If the firms your looking at use financial advisors for wealth management...

Also, how much money are you pledging? Elite wealth management firms require you to already have $$$.
