nah...they know she did all kinds of worse shite, but this is the best case they can prosecute because cantrell and vappie are likely the stupidest two people with any authority in the city. lets not forget this gem...clear campaign finance fraud:
quote:harder to prove though. the case they have will be plain as day, and her stupidity and attitude will get her the time she deserves
In 2022, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell spent nearly $200,000 from her campaign account, with more than a third of those funds going toward image consulting services. Campaign finance records in February 2022 show Cantrell’s campaign paid $60,000 to Jolie Image Consulting, owned by Tanya Haynes, and another $12,000 to Erica Warren. Haynes allegedly told store employees she was purchasing clothing for the mayor to wear at public events like Essence Fest and a 2018 royal visit.

General question for attorneys of the OT. Even if she doesn’t do jail time, this has to ruin her financially, correct. How much in attorney fees would you rack up fighting something like this?

teedy and vappie have their arraignment date set
seems unlikely trial will start before january so her ultimate humiliation (convicted while in office) is sadly not going to happen
quote:choice of judge doesnt matter here, they will both be released on signature with no bond. whe will have to surrender her passport though
A federal judge on Wednesday set Cantrell's arraignment for Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Wells Roby, court records show. Vappie, who was previously charged in the same case, is slated to be rearraigned at the same time.
