A great work indeed, but like all four stories in Four Seasons, clearly not a short story but rather a novella.

King has some fantastic short stories, though, such as those found in Night Shift: Trucks, The Ledge, One for the Road, Children of the Corn, etc. Also quite a few good ones in Skeleton Crew: The Mist, Survivor Type, The Jaunt, etc. and Nightmares and Dreamscapes: Dolan's Cadillac, The End of the Whole Mess, You Know They Got A Hell of a Band, etc.

“Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut.

Was waiting for this one. Top 5 for me. Also:

“Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes (short story & novel)
“The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson
“The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe
“The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs
