Yeah, population growth isn't always a net positive.

The area my mom lives in NW Florida has likely doubled in population over the past 20 years but I wouldn't necessarily say it's much nicer overall.

Some things are better but there's also a ton more cheap strip shopping centers and fast food joints in what used to be beautiful natural spaces.


My neighborhood in Brooklyn has lost about 5% of it's population during that span and it's so much nicer now. Less shared apartments, higher average salaries and much better quality shops and restaurants.
