I hear it is dangerous. Even if you are staying at the Ritz.

i strongly suggest Ashevill NC. Weather is perfect, yo ucan go flyfishing in Cherokee/ Bryson City. Visit the biltmore Estates, eat and drink in asheville at night. Great place to be in October.

Really like this idea.

If you're thinking early October as opposed to November, I'd also add Charleston or Savannah to the list. Weather will probably be very nice.

We went to Northern California to Mendocino area (3 hours north of SF along the Pacific Coast)in October in 2014 for our anniversary. Absolutely gorgeous out there. Saw gorgeous cliffs above the ocean, drove through massive redwood forests, and visited local wineries in their wine country. Highs usually in the mid 60s during the day, 40s at night.

Totally agree with the Vancouver idea mentioned earlier. Best of both worlds with great city life and a ridiculous amount of outdoor options as well. Going in October, have heard nothing bad, and outside of Jackson Hole can't imagine a better combo of romantic getaway/outdoor adventure.
