Liquid bandage and a box of latex gloves...
On my first road trip to Colorado, I tripped coming out of my tent and fell face first into a concrete bench. Ended up concussed and probably needed stitches. Stopped in BFE New Mexico and bought some liquid bandage and some band-aids. Empty half of the bottle and glued my face closed.
Ended up a little puffy. lol

I need to see pics of your gash before I can give medical advice.

This stuff is amazing and it immediately numbs the area. Also works great for those winter finger tip cracks.
It beats Liquid Skin.

Can’t help on the cut advice, but I too sliced the hell out of my thumb washing a chef’s knife. Wasn’t as bad as what yours sounds like though, but I still get a little shiver run through me when I go to clean that knife now.
Same when I was a teenager. Not bad but enough to where I will never drop knives in soapy dishwasher.
My wife still occasionally does it and man it freaks me out.

Wife cut herself really good. Heard her calling my name, I walk in the kitchen and she's laying on the floor with a towel on her hand.
"I cut my hand"
I reach down and grab the towel, there's 0 blood anywhere, "where did you cut it"
"Right here, there's blood everywhere"
"There's no blood anywhere"
Got a laugh out of the situation, she cut it so clean that it barely bled. The bad news is she cut through 2 tendons on her index finger. Cut was already healed by the 2nd day when she had surgery.

If you have to get it wet, you could use a finger cot. They are like tiny little condoms for your fingers and are made for that reason. Put it on over your regular or liquid bandage.
