An operator at a gas plant? Coal plant? Nuclear? I can tell by your post though that you’ll never get any of them. These guys aren’t of the same mold as o&g operators.

I'll assume you aren't going to work at an Entergy nuke plant.

If coal, or natural gas...if you possess common sense and have a sound mechanical mind, you'll be a good operator. If you do get hired, learn your job, the flows, and how the process works. If a maintenance man comes in asking for a clearance and your feet are propped up on the desk, tell him that you're in the middle of a meeting and that he'll have to come back later for said clearance.
