Electricians of the OT I need your help..

I replaced the security light on the side of a building I own. I have everything hooked up and I have power to the light, but my light will not come on.
I took the light down and replaced a different security light at another building and the light worked. Any ideas why?

did you put a bulb in?

Bulb or wiring or fixture is fricked up.

Try a different bulb you know works in the new light. The first bulb may work/not work sometimes and is about to fail.

Many light bulbs are total crap today. I've bought two new ones and both didn't work. Thought I had electrical problems too. Didn't.

Is it an old style vapor lamp? ( Or even a slow warm-up UV? ) Those could take a while to warm up and turn on

No bulb, it's an LED light. The confusing part is I took it down and put it on another building and it worked fine.

There may be a eye that monitors the light outside and won't let it come on until nightm. Can't remember what it's called.

That would be the photocell. Usually you can cover it up with your hand to test to make sure it is working.

Get a non-contact voltage detector. Make sure the light switch is switched to On, then hold it near the wires for the one that you said wasn't working. If the detector shows that the wires are hot, and your lamp worked at another location, then you made some mistake when installing it at the location that doesn't work. It could be that your wires weren't making good contact with the terminals or you didn't ground it properly.
