Literally ignoring the previous posts in this thread and/or proving you would rather find something else to blame on SWB.
There’s plenty to blame on her. She’s not an effective leader. Or even a good one. This isn’t one of them. You literally have no idea what you’re talking about and what’s worse this thread is quite informative in that regard.
You just want to bitch. It’s evident.

Let’s see we had a severe flood on 2016. Broome took office shortly thereafter. EBR has received 100s of millions of dollars fir drainage improvements. That’s not counting the funds that Graves got to finish the Comite Diversion Canal which I’ve been paying taxes to build it for decades now. We just had another mega flood in SEBR. What has Broome done?
She gets a free pass because she’s not an effective leader?
Btw, the situation isn’t all her fault, but I can’t call Kip out, or Simpson or McHugh or any of our ex governors now because what good can they do?
It’s on our current mayor. council, representatives, and governor to come up with a regional plan and a regional fix. But it’s up to Broome and her administration to do the basic maintenance services and to spend those hundreds of millions she has where it will do some good.
Stopping development today is not going to stop what happened in August of 2016, what happened two months ago or what’s going to happen if we get a big rainmaker thishurricane season.

100’s of millions of dollars for improvements that the feds rules will not allow her to spend without project approvals she isn’t in charge of and Engineering studies subsequent to those approvals which then-you guessed it-must also be approved by FEMA. We’ve covered this ground in this thread multiple times now. You are either purposefully ignoring it or are just too dumb to understand that you are wrong.
I pointed out in specific detail what is to blame, why it’s to blame and why she hasn’t been able to spend the money, you haven’t gone back and read or it didn’t sink in when you did.
There are millions unspent around the state because FEMA has been historically slow in project reviews and approvals. All of which is beyond her control.
She sucks as a mayor. But what you’re saying is her fault isn’t her fault.
Stop being dumb and re read this thread. It’s educational for someone who doesn’t understand what they’re talking about like yourself in this instance.

The long-awaited East Baton Rouge Parish Flood Risk Reduction Project is projected to cost $255 million however, the project was stalled for nearly 30 years until initial funds could be secured by leaders of Baton Rouge city-parish. An early start date for the project was quoted as January 2020, according to a spokesperson with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office meanwhile projects a date of 30-60 days later.
From this article written in August of 2019, but I know you already know all this.

I expected action on this from our officials, They are over a year late according to their own deadlines.

Yeah because the Pandemic didn’t impact any deadlines or schedules whatsoever.

You sound like a Democrat Party hack making excuses.
So it’s all Covid’s fault when we flood again.
First you blamed FEMAand the COE. Now it’s Covid 19.
You are the expert. Can we expect relief any time soon?

I’ve explained it. Multiple times. Your biggest issue is that someone blames someone other than SWB.
She’s a subpar Mayor. She’s been divisive. She’s all hat no cowboy. Whatever analogy you want to use to describe her not being good at her job and-within reason-I’d more than likely agree with you.
But if she’s at fault here I’d say so. She’s not. So I won’t.
There’s tons we can blame her for. All I’m saying is that this isn’t part of any of the tons I just mentioned. Disagreement here is just you being so unable to let go of what your own preconceived opinions are that you will argue with someone who knows what they’re talking about.
Detach your ego. I’m not making shite up and I’m not a Democrat. You just didn’t understand some of the back end processes and hang ups surrounding the money being discussed here.
That’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t make you dumb unless you just refuse to pay attention and ignore what’s been said here. Just set aside your anger-and as someone who has been impacted by flooding that’s no easy task and I understand that-and read through the thread.
No hard feelings but man…seriously…look at your reactions here. All I’m trying to do is educate everyone on the delays. Not defending SWB. I’m literally telling you where to aim your unhappiness.
