Tell me why it should be taxed more. Both receive the same services. Y'all are all for soaking the people that have more. Where have I heard that before, oh right "From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs."

Taxes have to go up to fund public servants salaries because those salaries have to go up. When you’re paying fast food workers 15-20 an hour (36k a year) with no education or training needed, how can you expect people college degrees and special training to make 45k a year? Would rather have to pay 1k a month to someone to watch your kids while they attend virtual classes or pay more taxes to pay teachers more and have in person class? How about pay higher taxes or have to replace your household objects every few years due to lack of police officers? Or have a higher insurance premium due to lack of firemen or pay higher taxes? These are the choices your have to make in the near future

That is just the way it is. Is it fair? I don't think so, but it will never change.

Property is taxed according to its value.as determined by the Assessor.

And yes, my assessed value went up too.

We have been paying higher and higher taxes meanwhile BR has a large shortage of policemen.

The problem is the current administration has been anti cop. There is really no big push to rectify the situation.

Government entities can roll back millages back so they collect the same amount of taxes; however, I have noticed that the opposite has been happening more and more.

quote]The idea behind the wonky process of millage roll backs is if property assessments go up, the amount local government taxes you is rolled back so you don't pay more.[/quote]

For example:

With no votes to spare, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board on Thursday kept property tax rates at current levels, ensuring that the school system continues receiving as planned an estimated $13 million in increased revenue thanks to a recent parishwide reassessment.

I love when my property rises in value.

Can you sell your house for more today than you could 2-3 years ago?
