My conspiracy theory is that the parish/city doesn't have the money to maintain Government St. so they're stalling and blaming landscaping
I drive down government daily and there always seems to be a sprinkler main that is busted and flooding the street.

lack of state maintenance (a LADOTD hallmark)

If you ever needed proof to show how inept DOTD can be this photo sums it up:

As one poster remarked last night, they were riding on this section of US 90 back in the 1970’s before it opened and while it was being built, they ran into wet cement. I am assuming with no crews around they smoothed out the road best they could and hauled arse.

Once crews completed the section DOTD, still opened the road. Over the years, DOTD never attempted to repave that section, except to only add asphalt patches that made the road worse. So for over 50 or so years, this section of skid marks on US 90 have been present.

The medians are so stupidly placed. I live on capital heights, it’s almost to take a left turn from the median. The medians with the flowers are so big and the available space to turn your car into the middle lane is almost non existent. Most cars have to turn left from the right lane and block traffic because there’s not enough room to get into the middle lane. And the walking/back path is so narrow that you’re risking your life.

Nobody is walking up and down government street at Baton Rouge. I mean FFS it’s too hot to walk to bars and grocery stores during the day and too dangerous at night. At least let me make a left turn correctly.
