Will the West Coast join in?

If what I read a few posts above is true, they're partially joining in by refusing to unload ships which have diverted from East Coast/Gulf Coast ports.

I work for one of the major shipping carriers. We were told about this a few weeks ago. I’ve been off the past week, but curious what I’ll be walking into tomorrow. I think they were working on diversions to the west coast ports, but obviously that takes time and will overload those as well.

When you get the chance, please give us an update from the field (or port, in your case).

His comments aren't wrong about the long-term implications.

We bit ourselves in the posterior a generation ago when we decided we could ship all our manufacturing to other countries and just become a "finance industry".

Even what we DO build here is becoming problematic. Boeing, with its 737MAX and Starliner issues. The defense industry can't meet deadlines on many major projects since it can't find enough trained trade workers.
