No they don’t compared to the numbers driving while impaired. Go don’t to the beach during Jeeping the coast around midnight. Half the time they don’t even hide the alcohol and the cops don’t do anything.

I am in bed during the week by 8 PM and about the same most weeks Thursday - Sunday....so I am not overly exposed to cops late night habits....but I have noticed this to be the case. The very people likely to have a back the blue flag are, it seems, being targeted for field sobriety test DUIs across the country. Seriously the police are not your friends unless you are one of them and then only if you maintain the blue line. It is a problem and we simply refuse to admit it because of the idiots who chose one of the worst phrases ever to come down the pike - "defund the police".

Your leaving out the HGN test which is by all accounts very accurate in determining if the person has been drinking. It doesn’t mean the person is drunk. It’s the reason this test is done first in a DWI stop.

In many states you can take the breathalyzer in lieu of the FST if you have a medical condition like bad bsck\knees etc.

From Google AI
Horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) is an involuntary jerking of the eyes as they move to the side. It's a key indicator used in field sobriety tests, particularly those involving DUI arrests. When someone is under the influence of alcohol or certain drugs, this jerking motion becomes more pronounced and easier to observe

"More pronounced" and "easier" are both subjective terms which would require some knowledge of how the eyes of the individual behave when they have categorically not been drinking. Serious crimes like DUI should not be subjective, especially when you have a test that is established, cheap and pretty much fool proof. FST tests are not mandatory in any state as far as I know...they should always be refused. The only thing that can possibly happen to you if you comply is you can be charged with a DUI. Even if your dumb as has been drinking you should refuse...it is not going to help you and is actually going to be used against you....and you may not be legally drunk and a breath taste will show this.

Why don’t they just make you blow and just record that? If you refuse to blow (your choice) then you go to jail and bloodwork will be drawn. All these stupid fricking subjective test given by someone who WANTS you to fail are dumb. Shouldn’t be rocket science

They do Field Sobriety Tests so they can arrest you for DUI whether you have been drinking or not because it looks good on the books to remove drunk drivers from the streets. The fact that the driver was not drunk is not important. Thats modern day policing theory in the United States. I am certain it started because there is no test for being stoned short of blood work and they realized that they could make arrests for DUIs without any evidence at all other than the opinion of the cop and it would sound good to the public because the person had to be guilty because the cops would never lie. The breathalyzer works against this theory, thats why it is in disfavor.

This x1000

I know plenty folks with them. All independently wealthy and more or less very productive members of society.

But you won’t see police patrolling the neighborhoods where the young black kids go out and club. It’s bullshite.

you average field cop isn't qualified to evaluate for nystagmus. I would laugh at a cop if they tried to test me for nystagmus, and i would certainly not participate in that evaluation. roadlight test in the dark with other cars and distracting variables. yea right.

assume you'd be going to jail regardless of whatever the cops think they saw, because they'll just say they saw nystagmus which they aren't qualified to evaluate for... and there is no getting second opinion from someone who actually knows differences in normal saccades and nystagmus.

Should not be a crime. It really shows who understands liberty and who does not. It is punishing someone before they commit a crime. The 80s brainwashed a ton of good people.

Covid wasn't the 1st just the biggest at the time.

All the wars were a big mind screw job. War on terror, drugs, poverty just did a number on folks.
