I’ve resurrected my dryer many times by replacing the thermal fuses. Kept happening for several months until the heating element failed. Replaced the heating element and I haven’t had a failure in a year or more.

Circa yr 2000 Kitchen Aid (whirlpool) top loader.

If electric then probably the element like someone above said you can check it with an ohmmeter if you feel reasonably confident enough to open the bottom up. Really not that difficult. Just do a search on troubleshooting the heating element with you specific model number. You will either get a good reading or bad reading.
