He is on NYC sports talk show and this was interesting. It might be Germans or obvious but it explains why marraige can be hard.
Men marry women hoping they wont change. Women marry based on the man they can become.

Problem is that Women are more apt to change and try new things, etc. and men are more apt to try to stay the same. And there are biological reasons for this that are beyond the scope of this post.

So our basic nature’s are the exact opposite of each other’s expectations

Men want their wife to be the same 23 year old hottie, not the 43 year old meemaw.

Women want their husband to be the 43 year old distinguished high earner, not the same 23 year old dudebro.

This is the exact opposite of my marriage.

I married my wife thinking that once she was finished with graduate school, she would start to slow down with her perfectionism and overzealous work ethic at her job. My wife married me thinking I was going to be a good Christian man who taught high school, got involved in the local community, and worked on small music projects at church.

She's still very much the same person and I wish there was a way for her to slow down and shift her focus from work. It's why I look for jobs and situations that would allow her to be a stay at home mom or take on a part time job.

I barely have any faith left, have shifted my career focus multiple times over the past ten years, and pursue very large dreams. My hobbies have changed (used to hit the weights hard, play video games, and hated all things landscaping. Now I'm a marathon runner, never play video games, and think more about gardening and cooking than I probably should). My values have changed. I lean way more liberal than I did ten years ago.

I know we're probably just an outlier but considering it's Dr. Oz, I'm thinking he might be talking out of his arse.

Long before I married my wife, I married myself with the expectation that I would continuously develop into a better person. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, but that should be the goal.

As far as she's concerned, I don't expect her to always look like she's in her early 20's. And I definitely don't want or expect her to think and process information like she did in her early 20's. I do expect her to strive to better herself physically and psychologically.

I also think that the difficulties men and women face with regard to long-term compatibility is why Mikelbr now prefers the company of men.
