We are about to put down a deposit on another golden. Our current one was adopted and has cancer. We will probably put him down this week.....it’ll be hard but we want another golden to replace him. Golden’s are freaking awesome.

I have a Black Tri mini Aussie. Wife wanted a small dog and I wanted a fill size. Our mini was the compromise. As long as she gets plenty of exercise and socialization she is a great dog. If not, she can be pretty wild. Our girl is only 7 months so still very much a puppy. She is one of the most loving dogs I’ve had. She is great with kids, other people, and other dogs. Super smart but can be mischievous with all my smartness. Honestly, probably can’t go wrong with either. I’m sure both are at the top of the list for many people.

Their only con is that they shed in a way that defies physics. I can brush them for over an hour each, making a pile of hair the same size as the dog. And they look exactly the same. Like they haven't lost hair one.

At least once a week one of our cameras in the house goes off and I watch the playback only to see a clump of golden retriever hair just floating past

I have had both and they are great dogs.

Goldens shed enough hair daily to make another dog.

Aussies are fun to watch, especially if you have a cat. Mine will try to herd our cat to places that the cat does not want to go. They get along but I know Otis (the cat) is losing patience.
