Well, I guess that makes me gay 'cause I live in East Baton Rouge Parish, one of the 5 parishes in Louisiana which require emissions testing. Also costs us $18/year instead of the $10/year fee for other parishes.

Annual requirement in Texas.
No inspection, no registration.

No annual inspections. Just emissions testing every other year if your car is over 5 years old. Costs like $20 for the test.
They get you on annual car registration here. Based on percentage of what your car is worth. Last two years I've had to pay $500-600/year for car registration.

State of Georgia (Cobb County) hits me with a nice $50 tag fee every year for my LSU plate.

The state of Tennessee doesn't require it, but certain counties do. Mostly Nashville and the suburbs.
Huh. Then it must be a Hamilton County thing. I never really thought about it. I know you have to get a car tested to get a tag.

Louisiana now offers a two year "inspection" sticker. I always go to the same shop to get mine. They have never inspected anything in over the 20 years I have been going there. They take my money, check my license and insurance and slap the tag on the windshield. One time he even had me install the sticker because he was on the phone. My uncle would go get his sticker for his old bean truck without ever bringing the truck in. He said it was too much of a hassle so they would just fill out the paperwork and give him one. Lol.

The real question is... Why is Virginia's inspection stickers in the middle of the windshield...?

In Louisiana.. Yes.. And they put inspection sticker checks at interstate exits & shite slowing down traffic. Bitches.

Ouch! I think our registration in Louisiana is good for 2 years and it's only like $35 for renewal (may be more, but I'm pretty sure it's not over $100). Our insurance rates are ridiculous though. We do have to pay taxes for the value of the vehicle when you first register it--is every state like that?

This is a sore point for me. We have yearly inspections in Louisiana and it is clearly a money grab. $10/vehicle a year is good money. It has nothing to do with public safety.
Were it not about money, it would be cars older than five years or something like that.
I received my new company car a few months ago and because it was delivered to a state without inspections, it came with no sticker. I'm still riding with no inspection sticker.
It is bullsht when I get one. . They don't check anything. They just take your $10 and put on a new sticker.
