If a manager has no kids its typically much worse the other way around.
Depends on how your company balances work/life too.
Married/single I never notice much difference in dedication. But once you have kids your priorities in life just change.
A good manager needs to understand that. This may be where they may rely on those without kids and lean on them some. However its normally a trade off as they may have leaned heavily on those with kids now in the past.

Single guy doesn't have kids that will get sick at the last minute or have plays/games/etc. Single guy more likely to put in more hours because he won't get nagged by his wife at 5:15.
I don't think it's as cut and dry as you think.
I as a single guy actually got hired to my position over an older guy with experience who was married with kids. So there's that.
