I have a Finance degree and had trouble getting a job after college. My advice would be to do accounting.
I didn't do accounting though. I got into banking and then later healthcare in various Analyst roles. I took a job an hour away from me for 28k at first. But I paid my dues and it all worked out. I wanted to live in NOLA too but it didn't happen. I had to move to BR

Unless you are in medical field, engineer or Lawyer-jobs in NOLA area are pretty much slim pickings. Unless you want to work in the front office of a Hotel doing audits or accounting stuff. I had to move out of state when I changed my career and have no regrets. I'm also not married and no kids that I know of, ha.
As for finance jobs check out the Ochsner website daily for job postings. I'm sure there are plenty of finance jobs out there.

You ever thought of asking your cousin Z's dad for a job? I bet he could get you in the door at his shop.
