He's a kid. He made a choice, support it. Parents who push their kids in sports are the worst.

Playing Devil's Advocate here...

Would you criticize a parent if their child was highly intelligent but chose to take regular classes rather than honor's or AP/AC (whatever they are called now) so that he could have an easier more enjoyable high school experience? Or if they could go to Vanderbilt but chose to go to LSU so they could have more fun and party?

Why is a parent who "pushes" their talented athlete any different?

*I'm not talking about the dad who thinks their kid is the All-Star when they don't even belong on the field and is an arse to everyone, including their kid, about it. But why is it wrong to push your kid to be their best if they are talented.

Now if he could a scholarship being a place kicker then frick yea.

I did exactly this in college and it paid my way, but to me, if the scholarship money wouldn't have been there, I would've never attended where I attended or worried about playing after HS. It also helped a younger dumbass me from royally screwing up my life because of the structure the coaches provided.

This:

Go to an SEC and frick off, find a nice girl and a decent job and drink away your best years like I did...

Would've, in my case, been:
quote:

Go to an SEC and frick up, find trashy girls, drink away your best years, and flame out with no degree and a shitload of debt, and possibly a police record...
