If the docs would all stop talking insurance as payment, make the patients pay for service and file for their own reimbursements, it would resolve their moral dilemma of unnecessary tests. The consumer would stop to think, ask for costs, and refuse some expenses; Maybe even stop going to the doctor for every sniffle.

You get my point. It's divide and conquer. Together we'd have tons of pull and could start dictating shite to the hospitals, insurers etc. However, you always have one group that wants to be all shady and shite cutting back room deals for cut rate reimbursements(that's not passed onto the pt btw). They think they're really doing something until they realize their profit margin is jack shite and they are now a particular hospital or insurer's bitch. Happens time and time again.
