He'll never know they took down the statue of Lee in Charlottesville and changed the names of Lee and Jackson parks to Emancipation and Justice.

If any other sovereign nation detained, beat, and caused severe brain damage to our citizen, what would happen?

Much the same thing. This happens from time to time all over the world, but the reality is that once you're under the control of the bad guys there is very little that can be done that won't jeopardize your life.

For example, there was that young woman a couple of years ago on some kind of volunteer trip who was kidnapped by ISIS. She wound up being some commander's sex slave for months. A rescue attempt was made but it failed. Eventually she was killed ... by a US airstrike. Oops.

It's *very* hard to have a good outcome once you are captured in a situation like this. The State Department for decades has been recommending in very strong terms that US citizens should not go to North Korea for any reason. Here is yet another good reason to heed that advice.

That's on Vice and him. Still he shouldn't have done anything untoward while there.

You're confused. Vice got Rodman in.
