They already did about 3 years ago in places like L.A., Brooklyn, and Nashville. It’s a popular way for obscure indie bands to record demos.

I had a Nikko double cassette deck in the 80s. When friends would buy the latest album or CD (was there at the dawn), I would hook up and record it to a quality TDK or Maxelle cassette. Could quickly make a copy for a friend.

Those quality cassettes recorded from CDs were awesome. So much better than the factory cassettes, and they stayed good for several years. After CDs took over the works, I finally put my cassette collection and the Nikko out on the street. Maybe someone rescued them before they headed to the landfill.

One cassette I had was recorded from an album sent to radio stations for broadcast only, a King Biscuit type Van Halen concert from the first Van Hagar tour. A college radio station friend let me record it. Should have kept that one. Summer Nights was particularly good,
