About the same but I'm a lot better at keeping it. They act like pay day is like winning the lottery

Comparing what my dad was making when he first started out vs what I'm making starting out (inflation accounted for) - Yes, by a decent amount

What he makes now compared to what I make: He's got me by about 30%

Him: Natural Gas Pipeline Operations
Me: Heavy Commercial / Industrial Construction

A lot more. Throw in the wife's and it's probably triple theirs.

hell no.

I doubt I'll ever pass my father.

Might be able to compete with my mother on salary alone, but she owned businesses that have since sold and made a decent amount on them. I could maybe match or come close to matching her, but only because she gave me % of a company.

They came from nothing and worked their asses off. Engineer and O&G Accountant, respectively.

my dad has a great pension with Shell. he was a deep water drilling company man for them. i'll prob never make what he makes even in retirement. it's a pretty sobering thought

Base pay, close if not more. But my mother retired from state government, so there's no way I'm coming close to matching what she brings in now.

yes, but they are retired. But I clipped my mother when I was about 26/27, and my father when I was 34. I remember the day and telling him. He was so mad about it.

my wife passed her father's peak salary last year. Her mother stopped working in the early 90s, so its not comparable.
