Yep. One of the neighborhood guys I grew up with was a serious alcoholic from an early age. He and a few friends went out one afternoon to drink and he got so tore up the bar owners told him to leave.

He went out to the car they drove to the bar in and fell asleep on the back seat. When his buddies went to leave they found him dead in the back seat and apparently drowned in his own puke.

He was the worst, but there were a couple others that came down with cirrhosis of the liver and other problems that killed them due to their drinking with a couple of them getting limbs cut off due to having diabetes and continuing to drink.
