IDK why this is getting down voted so much. It's a valid question. I know a couple of people who shouldn't have guns.
I was invited to a poker game at a friend of a friends house when I went to LSU. The guy who was hosting the game lost big and became pretty irate. He went to his bedroom and came back with a hand gun and was pointing it at the guy who beat him. Was a really tense moment. His friends talked him down and we called the cops. The cops just kind of let it go because the dude was in the military and the cop was a veteran and they started chatting and getting buddy buddy.
Had a cousin who had never handled guns buy a gun. I told him I thought it was a bad idea and he ended up shooting a hole in his roof because he has no trigger discipline.
Anybody whose first reaction to confrontation is to pull a gun is pretty irresponsible. If you have a way out without using deadly force you should take that way out.

I have seen a few in the hunting club that I just stay away from.
We had one of our millwrights shoot his finger off in the work truck with three other employees in the truck. Once the bullet blew his finger off, it hit the drivers seat (dumbass was in the back passenger seat) as they were driving down the interstate and by luck or divine intervention, the bullet hit the frame of the seat and didn't injure the driver. He is no longer employed by my company.

Lots of dudes buy pistols to keep in their truck 100% of the time
So yes, I know lots of irresponsible gun owners

Yes.
Alcohol and CHL. Buddy of mine always carries and is a good gun owner. He carries all the time. Even HAMMERED. Never seen him take it out when hammered but it’s on him. I’m not talking “oh man, I had one too many IPAs I should uber.” I mean sloshed. To the point that it’s the first thing he secures after a drunken night. “Is it in my pants or did I put it in the truck?”

Funny...never hear about shootouts in the U Club.
That's because we know how to dispose of the bodies quietly and keep our mouths shut
