I earned the right to eat that bread from the many hours of catechism.
Earned?
How does someone earn access to the salvation freely given by our Savior?
Puzzling.
How have you missed the clear teaching regarding free grace as found in the Letter to Galatians?
The Gospel of Mark is pretty strong on the same point.

If you have not, you stay seated.
"That none should boast..." From the Letter to the Ephesians chapter 2 verse 9 has just come to mind for some reason.
I suggest some time in prayerful study of the actual Word.
But then, I need the same thing.
We all do.

quote:you pasted a snippet from Lumen Gentium 16 that’s under the Catechism’s paragraph #847 - which is talking about salvation for those who have never known Christ
I pasted directly from the Romanist catechism. So while you can be pissy and downvote, I didn’t make this up.
Catechism paragraph #846 explains that salvation comes from Christ through the Church. Who is in the church? That comes from Lumen Gentium 14 - which states all those that are Baptized.
Which is why the Catholic Church recognizes all those who are Baptized in the Trinitarian form. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Although not all fully incorporated into the Catholic Church or professing the same faith completely - the Church recognizes we are all linked through Baptism and faith in Jesus.
Other Christians who believe in the Trinity are partly part of the Catholic Church - whether or not they accept it, realize it, or like it.
However, since other Christians do not express the same exact faith - they are asked not to receive Communion in the Catholic Church.
Plus, we can only do as us humans can do on Earth - and none of us are worthy. The Church has tried and tries to make rules because humans need to be taught and guided. Of course not everyone agrees - as we are humans. But it is never up to us to say who is and who is not saved - the Catechism says that comes from God Himself. The Church, in her wisdom recognizes this, but still must guide us in the best of her ability.

I know. I was making a point that it isn't necessary to go to Mexico.
I jus mentioned that to say what the reason was that we didn’t go to communion
