Do you ever do things out of shame?

I just walked into a men’s bathroom at a soccer complex and there was a middle aged man who was thinking about washing his hands, by the way he was looking at the sink. He literally was in the middle of making a move for the door as I walked and then he did a doubled take and made a move for the sink and washed his hands. I contend he did this from shame. Moms are master shame artists. Preachers traffick in shame. Do you ever do things from a sense of shame?

Unless he pissed on his hands why would he need to wash them?
Maybe he pissed in his hands and had to wash them.

Well, I have this thing about doorknobs and public bathroom surfaces. And yes, I do use a paper towel to open the door when exiting.
