How about opossum and bologna. How do you say them?

I know you can argue we got the names of the week from different languages, but you can definitely put off our bologna pronunciation from not handling a different language.
But come on it's a day of the week we cannot say right! (?)

The better question is do you pronounce it "wensday" or "wensdee".

I agree with you, but I again point you to my foreign language point for the Favre comment.

Pronouncing it "Wed-ness" isn't correct, neither currently nor historically.
The "Wednes" in Wednesday comes from Woden, the old English form of Odin. The "es" in Wednesday is more correctly understood as an apostrophe s - Wedn's Day. The pronunciation for Woden's Day moving from old English and into middle English and then modern pronunciation was probably Whoah-denz-day, then sped up to Whoanz-day and eventually Wenz-day.
If anything, we should go back to calling it Woden's Day.

I like to call it Odins Day. It'll catch on.

I say mercredi because Trump took the fun out of the English language.
