My house value went down this past year but the clowns want to charge me more property taxes. Did ownwell and they say can save $2700 but not sure where the catch is.

I do it every year. Sometimes they save me money and charge me a fee based of what they save me and other years when they don't save me anything its like $25 fee.

I argued mine myself with the County a few years ago by posting evidence of "comps" near me that were way less $ per sq ft. They have a website where I live where you can submit appeals with supporting info.
It worked. The comps I used were across a divide that no one crosses and looked like shacks. My neighborhood is pseudo-gated. I got away with one.

They tried to nail us with a value 80k higher than what we paid for our house for the year we bought it. The house is worth what someone will pay for it, fricking idiots. Won that dispute.

Ok this makes more sense. Ever since I become a home owner, I recognize how big of a scam prop taxes are.

Yes. I have a house on the far side of my property that I need to tear down. Every year they send me a bill for 1900 more than they should, I call back and it goes to $32 after explaining I intend to demo.
