Also, if you go to Universal Studios, you won't need but a few hours. Park Hopper for that too.

I'm assuming you meant Hollywood...Universal isn't Disney and definitely is an entire day.

I'm pretty sure she meant the Universal Studios park which, on a standalone basis, could be done in only a few hours depending on what you wanted to see. Islands of Adventure is easily a full-day park though. But as I stated in my other post, with the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter into Universal Studios one would most definitely want a 2-park pass.

We only went to Magic Kingdom for a whole day when we took our daughter last year. She was turning 5, and my wife was about 6 months pregnant, so we knew we wouldn't be hopping. We basically got there when the doors opened, rode several things that morning, did a lunch at the Beauty and the Beast restaurant, rode some more that afternoon, and had a late character dinner planned at the restaurant near the gates. I finally convinced my daughter to ride Thunder Mountain with me, and the fireworks show got started right as we were at the top of the first hill. That was pretty cool. We finished the fireworks and ate dinner, then watched as they did the movie scenes displayed on the Castle. We just made a quick weekend trip out of it and let her swim at the resort pool the first day, then her birthday in the MK, and downtown Disney the next day before flying back home.

If we go back, we'll probably make it a 3-days in the parks trip and add the hopper. All she really cared about this time was Magic Kingdom.

cheaper to get a 5 or 6 day pass then a 4 day with park hopper

park hopper adds $60 to ticket... just add more days

We did Disney and Universal/Islands of Adventure in a week. Did everything there was to do. Harry Potter world is cool to see. They only added one ride, the quidditch match. The dueling dragons are still the exact same. Except they don't run at the same time anymore. Anyone know why that is?

We've been 3 times with my daughter and everytime we do the park hopper. Like the other posters have said it's nice if you want to eat a restaurant that's not in the park you are going to that day, or if the park is crowded and you want to go to another park, etc.

We usually take a break and go back to the room so we have a morning park and an evening park. The evening park is usually the one that has the EMH for the night. We went into MK one night after the fireworks and we were the only ones coming into the park...everyone else was leaving. The park had EMH until midnight that night. My daughter was 5 and thought it was so cool that we basically had the whole park to ourselves. We did Enchanted Tales with Belle so many times in a row that by the end of it all the cast members knew my daughters name and even Belle called her by name too. We didn't even have to get off the roller coasters. They would ask if we wanted to ride again and if we wanted to switch locations and then we would take off. It was great...one of the best nights in Disney and certainly one my daughter and I will treasure.

Are you traveling with small children? If so you'll want the park hopper. Trust me.

I think it's just a safety precaution.

I think that with the expansion of Harry Potter into the original park (it replaced the Jaws area) that anyone going to Universal Orlando Resort would need to spend at least 2 days to do everything there...unless all they wanted to experience were the Harry Potter areas.

Depends what you want to do.

We went with my mom last year (my brother, his fiancé, my sister, my mom's friend, my wife and myself) and stayed at a rental place about 20 minutes from Disney.

Park hopper wasn't an issue because we picked one park and stayed there until we were either tired or finished everything. It was nice being able to go back and rest before dinner or just relax before the next day's park.

If you're staying on-site then I could see the need for park hopper to take advantage of the extra magic hours.

Park hopper for sure! I wouldn't do it without it. Trust me some parks you won't spend a full day at and you could always leave a park and go to the magic kingdom late at night because it stays open until after 12:00 each night. Also if you get hot and tired you can leave, go take a nap, and come back to a park.

yes,

I only do Hopper on short trips IE: les than 5 days.

My normal trips usually eight or more days we spend entire days in part..

Also if you are taking family, little ones, invest in the Photo Connect card at Universal. It's good for both parks $45 I think and you can download every picture from all your rides in the park as well as any pictures taken with characters etc...
