Both upper middle class MS upbringings.

Not new money or trash with cash.

Just your everyday solid , hard-working , church going , law-abiding, straight , nuclear family that tried to acquire land and save $ throughout the generations. You know. Domestic terrorists that are the current bane of the United States per the media.

If I ever get married, it won't be to a woman who comes from money. In my experience, women who come from money are incredibly entitled and I don't want any part of that. The poorer, the better. I don't need their money.

My wife's family were blue collar hippies. Her parents are gone now. They didn't end up w many assets other than a house. We occassionally helped them with bills. My wife got away from that and does well w two degrees.

My fam was blue collar ex-military. My parents have also passed, had a beautiful Florida home. But my siblings (two sisters) weren't/aren't especially ambitious, and both dropped out of high school to run off with boys.

To look at our families now, my family / siblings are in much better shape than my wife's. But none of them (including our parents) have the success and drive that my wife and I have.

But in all honesty, relationships probably work a little better if a spender is matched with a saver.

It's different year by year. In sales you have the occasional outstanding year where you blow through quota and make serious bank. Then the company gets wise and raises quota, so on and so on. Last year was one of those years and I made serious bank. This year, not so much.
