What about it you?

Probably my maternal grandfather. He died when my mother was six years old, so I never knew him but heard a lot of good things about him. He's my only grandparent that I never knew at all. My maternal grandmother died when I was 6-7, so I only vaguely remember her. My paternal grandparents lived until my early / mid 30s, so I obviously knew them well.

My maternal great-grandfather. He sent my grandfather to the U.S. as a 16 year old and stayed behind to protect the family home prior to the outbreak of WWI, uncerain whether or not Denmark would end up being attacked by Germany. After my grandfather immigrated to the U.S., four months later, my great-grandfather died in a boating accident that killed over 20 people (my great-grandmother had previously passed away).

Had he not sent my grandfather to America, my grandmother would never have met my grandfather and I wouldn't be here today. So, I've always been grateful for his selfless act, as I wouldn't be here, today.

My grandfather (my dad's dad). He actually passed away 2 days before my 1st birthday so obviously I didn't remember him, but heard a lot about him.
