Yeah did these people really think the oil bubble was never going to burst? How important were you if you're already getting laid off "by the thousands" as someone said here a couple of weeks ago?

It won't hurt me in any way. They could give it away for free and I would be safe. In fact, I would actually probably be busier.

You realize US Steel just announced 600 layoffs today because they aren't making any drill pipe because drilling is starting to slow because of oil prices? It's a trickle down affect, our lives revolve around oil and gas whether you want to admit it or not. Without it we don't have an economy.

Oil prices will start going back up by the 3rd quarter, but it will be rough until then. South lousiana is an Oil and Gas Meca. Why do you think there are over 1000 Millionaires in Lafayette Alone. This doesnt do South Louisiana any good. But it will not last.

Ok, here we go:

People get laid off from oil rigs = less people getting hurt on rigs
this means doctors in coastal cities have less people to treat.
less people to treat means that doctors will have to make cutbacks
cutbacks at doctors offices means they cannot afford to upgrade their computer systems.

you will be out of work in 2.5 weeks. kiss your job goodbye...

That's such a ridiculous jump

Plus we're locked down to any region. We have doctors in every state.

ETA: and it's dentists, optometrists, dermatologists, etc.

no way this downturn last 2 years. 9 months tops. Price of oil will start creeping back up by the end of March.

I tend to agree and I hope you're correct. It isn't as if "normal" market forces are what is driving the price down, but then again I'm sure the Saudis can keep this up for as long as they want. What I think will happen is that a war will begin in the middle east some time in the first or second quarter of this year, and you will see Oil climb back up to $90-100/bbl. Sad to say, but if I were a betting man that's where my money would be.

Funny but it doesn't just work one way.

Poor family now saves $200/mth in total gas cost
They can now use that to go to doctor or pay co-pay in health ins.
They go to doctor and doctor treats them and bills insurance
Everyone profits.
