They are handing out payments for everything. I don't think there has been a gap in some sort of disaster payment since hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

I don’t love subsidizing any private business but if I’m being honest I’d much rather have the money going to our own local guys and families than Ukraine or Taiwan.

Long read incoming….
I’ll inform you how the program is done, because I don’t think you understand. There’s 2 options to get ELAP assistance.
1. You use the parish average lbs for the past 3 years (2021,2022,2023). You take the parish average minus your 2024 production Xs $1.44 Xs your certificates acres.
2. You use your own average lbs for the past 3 years (2021,2022,2023) you take your average from those years minus your 2024 production Xs $1.44 Xs your certificates acres.
You have to turn in your records to the FSA office with a verification letter from all your buyers that verifies production.
All applicants go to the the state board, and they review all applications. There’s been people denied. Everyone is also subject to an audit. So no one is pulling numbers out of fairyland. There’s a system in place it’s not a free for all. So educate yourself, do your homework before you spew your BS.
Does a bar napkin receipt count?

This is an anonymous message board. Don't act like you aren't ecstatic about the free money. Especially after fishing the last half of the year last year. You are getting double what you would have made without the labor and bait costs.

Whatever make you feel better man. I know the protocol to get an accepted application. I did it the right way, used accurate numbers. The system will catch people that do it the wrong way. Like I said there’s been multiple people in SWLA that have gotten rejected.

What does that even mean “Especially after fishing the last half of the year last year”?
Even with the ELAP program gross wise it was a below average season. Don’t come here with “You’re getting double what you would have made”. You really don’t understand what you’re saying. Like you said it’s an anonymous board and gives you platform to talk your BS

If we the tax payers are gonna give away our money at least we have loaded grocery stores. Hell I’m not even opposed to the “food stamp” program. It’s less than 2% of the federal budget and it’s what keeps most rural areas grocery stores alive.

SFP must be your attorney.
Almost every farmer caught and sold crawfish the last half of last season. Plus Plus... You are going to be paid on prior seasons catch records based on the honor system.
They didn't even go with the state average from LSU which all oil companies used to pay damages.
Cry me a river. You are printing money.

Yeah the catch came up towards the end of the season. But overall production was still off 50% atleast. But you know that from the thread earlier this year where you were bitching and complaining in the spring. Just let it go man. You get too worked out about the Louisiana Ag Industry.

Oil companies have something to do with Crawfish? That’s a new one. It’s comical how you keep pulling shite out your arse. You’re right they didn’t go with the state average, they go with the parish average you dumbass. Read the article you quoted.

I’m about done with crawfish farmers. Don’t need to boil them anymore, let the greedy fricks charging $15/lb go bankrupt
Posted on 10/2/24 at 10:57 pm to Proximo
Crawfish farmers aren’t charging $15lb genius. That’s the restaurants/boil n gos. Average price last season for the farmer was $3.75lb. The reason it was even that high was the high prices in January and February.
Posted on 10/2/24 at 11:13 pm to touchdownjeebus
No it’s not.
Y’all clowns think every year prices will be high as giraffe balls. Every year the price is high then it goes down after Good Friday. Every fukin year.
Now with all the rain this summer I think you see them catching more crawfish early on the year than last year.

Then you should get paid on that. Not 100% of prior years catch. Especially if you fished at all.

You’re the one rushing in here with your hair on fire defending this abuse of tax money.
I’ve got buddies bragging about getting over $1k per acre with this. Don’t act like some puritan. You’ve gotten some sort of government help above and beyond crop payments for the last decade at least.

Yeah when they should go with the state average production according to LSU. The way the program is set up, it is ripe for fraud. Especially with this honor code reporting process.
Posted on 10/3/24 at 8:14 am to loogaroo
You’re not getting paid on 100% you idiot. You honestly have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re just a miserable prick. Why are you buddies with farmers if you are so angry with us?
Posted on 10/3/24 at 8:14 am to loogaroo
What’s the state average then since you know so much?
