This is the real answer. Try to shovel it off today. Besides, if the kids want to get out the house, I’m not worried about them breaking a bone on the ice and me not being able to get them to a hospital.

They can't help it, they's Yankees.
Seriously, those of us who lived in the frozen North learned quickly that failing to shovel snow leads to a sheet of ice on your driveway which causes you to slide and damage your wife's car which you will hear about for decades.
Not that I would know anything about that...

I shoveled part of our sidewalk where water normally collects during rains. Hoping that lets the sun hit it and melt it faster than otherwise. It was already slushy under the snow so I used a squeegee. I was by my driveway so I knocked out one lane in case I needed to take a vehicle out in an emergency.

Please don’t judge me OP. I played with my kid too. It’s called multitasking.

I shovel the walkway from out front door to cars but I don’t shovel the driveway. We have two all wheel drive cars - not worried about the ice on the driveway.
